Although the place sometimes receives overly harsh criticism, I find the Phoronix site and discussion forums to be reasonably informative. After all, it's been one of the more educational places for learning how to work around the bothersome power regressions of late.
Anyway...I just noticed something curious in the forum section on Linux graphics. Check out the attached screenshot and compare the numbers of posts and threads for various graphics products. If for some reason the image doesn't work for you, today's numbers are:
I've summed the numbers for AMD/nVidia open-source and proprietary.
Clearly, at least among those who frequent Phoronix, AMD attracts the greatest attention. Yet, anecdotally at least, I seem to harbor the notion that people gripe about AMD far more often. So I wonder what's going on here? Is AMD very popular, and therefore frequently discussed? Or is AMD simply the worst of the bunch, and therefore accrues the greatest amount of complaints?
