Possibly even NOW. I never undertake development without first setting up the project under version control with a secondary storage repository. It used to be CSV, the SVN, then BZ, now git. After that fateful day I have never lost a line of code, nor overwritten the current project head with a false branch.

Well. to put an ending to this story, I returned the computer to the client this morning with Linux Mint installed and all of the pictures and documents from her old Vista intact. The client seems enthralled with Linux and asked a lot of questions as she had never heard of it. She seems very happy with her new system, especially the fact that she does not have to worry about malware anymore. She was also very happy that all of this did not cost a dime, and that I will be available to provide free tech support for her Linux install. I make this my practice with all of my clients I convince to make the switch to Linux.

        Hi...

Wow, you must have a very successful business to be able to offer that....or just work on computers on the side.

I'm an old retired guy that works on computers on the side. I have plenty of time. My business has no employees and I don't sell anything, that way I avoid any contact with the government. Most of my customers come to me by word of mouth and through my networking. I have about 30 steady customers and they keep me busy enough to provide me with a little extra income, which supports my computer habit. I love switching people to Linux and I never charge them. Here's my web site.

            Ditto!

I have about a couple dozen or so computers that I support. They all run Linux so you can imagine that I spend very little time supporting them. When they do need help it is usually the result of hardware failure or, in one case, giving the grand kids the sudo account password and letting them "rearrange" things using their "expert" knowledge about Windows.

Nice value proposition there. I've been contemplating starting something similar, since I'm (mostly) retired now myself. Well, I guess if you count my kids, I already did!

                Hi...

                Nice little site

I installed Linux for one of my clients a while back and he's never needed to call me back for any further work.

                Regards...
