python-twisted-core dependency problems

Hi,
Installed Kubuntu 11.04 64bit on a Sony VAIO Laptop.
Centrino Duo, 1.5Gb Memory.

All went well till I tried to install "Radio Tray" from the Get-Deb website. The installer stuck at installing python-twisted-core package claiming unrsolvable dependencies. Since then, when installing other items, the installer tries to sort out these dependencies, seemingly.
I got the following error list via Synaptic Package manager:

E: ubuntu-sso-client: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

I can always re-install and avoid installing "Radio Tray", but it would be better if I knew what the problem was and how to fix it.

First thing to try in a situation like this is:

Log out of your desktop. When the greeter appears, choose the "console login" option, usually found under the red arrow or shutdown button.

Log in to the text console, then:

sudo service kdm stop

Once kdm stops, then:

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

You might need to repeat this sequence once or twice. Then reboot.

sudo reboot

I have python-twisted-core on my system, installed without any problems.

imo, sometimes packages from getdeb are missing some basic dependencies, or have these dependency issues, or have version mis-matches

you shouldn't have to log out of KDE to try the steps
doctordruidphd gave, just start at the "sudo apt-get install -f" and go from there.

That way, if you get more errors, you can paste them here and may help us get you cleared up easily.

Also, a url to the package would help as well. their website's search isn't too good :/

Thanks guys but I get the same errors. I removed Synaptic Package Manager & unselected the get-deb repository before trying the suggested commands.

I used to use getdeb, but my problem with it is there's no apparent way to just download the package and run a trial install of it. That used to be possible, but now it's their way or the highway; I choose the highway. Just my opinion, that for unoffical packages, one should run --dry-run first, for now obvious reasons.

I downloaded it from its sourceforge page:

greenman@Wolfenstein:~/Downloads$ sudo dpkg -i --dry-run radiotray_0.6.4_all.deb
Selecting previously deselected package radiotray.

Unpacking radiotray (from radiotray_0.6.4_all.deb) ...

No obvious errors, so I think the problem is not the radio-tray application, but somewhere in the mess of python program versions.

Try:

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get install --reinstall python-twisted-core

This will clean out possibly outdated packages from your cache, and reload the necessary ones from the repositories. Even if it doesn't work, it may give a clearer idea of where the problem is.
