I noticed that the Linux kernel 3.0 (just being released) has support for the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI).
There's an interesting article about this here:- http://h30565.www3.hp.com/t5/Feature...-Your/ba-p/198
Can anyone explain how this may (or may not) interact with the various Open Source BIOS replacements/developments? Will it finally free us from the dead hand of M$ which still exists in many BIOS chips? Will we ever be able to wipe our old BIOS chips and flash them with "freedom" or will we need to wait for new motherboard hardware?
