What type of web hosting works best with Kubuntu if there is one. Is KDE the best choice when using Kubuntu or is there something better? The people I work with prefer simplicity over all other factors as most have only used a Windows PC but if there is a way to save money then it must be done. Has anybody considered the amazon alternative for web hosting?

Not sure what you mean by web hosting. Are you talking about purchasing a web hosting plan, or running a web server on your computer?
If simply using an external web host, the OS is pretty much immaterial. If running a web server, and the like on your machine, sure Kubuntu can do it, as can any Linux distribution. Some distros are better suited, say Red Hat or CentOS, but any of them can with some work - there are article and tutorials all over, I believe.
Now as to the best desktop to run on Kubuntu, well that is probably KDE as that is what Kubuntu was built specifically to run
, though of course, the best thing to run is what YOU like the best
