    Better quality streaming video?

I currently use vlc to watch streaming video (mostly Mystery Science Theatre 3000), I don't know if it's my end, the streamers end, or my connection, but some of the vids look terrible, especially in fullscreen.

So is there a way to get better quality, or will I just have to stick with what I have?

If the video becomes blocky or blurry in fullscreen playback then it is probably encoded at a low resolution relative to the size of your display. Nothing you can do on your end will fix it, unless you can find a stream which was encoded at a higher resolution.

The prevalence of 1080p displays nowadays is one of the reasons YouTube now allows you to select higher resolution playback when possible. If the uploader encoded at 1080p, then you can stream it at 1080p from YouTube.
