      Re: k3guitune

If you REALLY, REALLY, really want to install k3guitune from a tgz (*.tar.gzip) file, follow these instructions. You will probably need to install several other Kubuntu packages as well, e.g. "build-essential" and all of its dependencies. Then you will have to learn how to use them. This is not difficult, but it is tedious. Therefore, I suspect that you will be up and running quite a bit faster, if you take Vinny's advice and install one of the guitar tuning applications that has already been packaged for *buntu.

Thank you for a response. I do have gtkguitune, and it will not load. I stopped trying to get it to work when I found k3guitune.I will look at the link posted and make an update on this.

          germyn@lonewolf:~/Documents/k3guitune-1.01$ ./configure

Please check whether you installed KDE correctly.

I looked in synapt to see If i have it , and it shows I have kde-config. I installed some other fiiles with config, but it still shows this. Hope someone knows what I am doing wrong.

              Re: k3guitune

I suspect (I could be wrong) that your problem has something to do with the lines:
              checking build system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
              checking host system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
              checking target system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
It would seem that "configure" is getting confused over whether you have a 32 or 64 bit system and whether your libraries are compatible with either your processor or the compilation requirements in the tarball.

I have a x64 system. The cpu is a AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz. Hope this will help.

I would STRONGLY suggest, that, at this point, you enter THE EXACT WORDING of the first error message in a Google/linux search. If you're lucky, you will find something useful. In addition, there are (at least) a half dozen kde-config packages in the repos. Most of them are irrelevant to your problem, but without trying to compile the package myself I have no idea which ones are relevant.

Apart from the software related issues.. As a guitar player I suggest you buy a tuner. The ones that you clip onto the headstock are great and they're not too expensive. It is a good investment if you are serious about playing.

                        Depends on KDE 3.x

                        Updated: Dec 15 2007

It is a KDE 3 application. Kubuntu today is using the KDE 4. There are support to run the KDE 3 applications but i'm not sure if there are support to compile all KDE 3 applications. What kind of system do you have? KDE version ?

                        ie. when looking the kdebase-dev:
development files for the KDE base module

This package contains headers and other development files needed to compile software based on the KDE base module.
                        > searching kdebase-dev
This package is for the Dapper and the Hardy.

The last update was 2007. The source code needs constant love. The KDE, Qt, gcc, etc are evolving.

ie the gcc > GCC 4.3/4.4:
C++ header dependencies got cleaned up in GCC 4.3, which broke a lot of code which relied on headers to be included indirectly...
