From where did you install Firefox 4 beta? Firefox daily repo?
Can you install it besides current Firefox 3.6.9, or does it replace the current Firefox install?

If you look in the PPA you will find:
            http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozi...u/pool/main/f/

            and

            http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa/ubuntu/pool/main/f/firefox-4.0/

            doing:
            Code:
            sudo apt-get install firefox-4.0
            should work fine.

              Re: Firefox Beta and Add-ons

Installed Firefox 4.0 Beta 6 from the Daily repo now.
However, it couldn't find any updated for Tab Mix Plus and Download statusbar and thus disabled them.
I tried installing Tab Mix Plus dev build from your link, but it said it's not compatible with 4.0b6pre
Next I went to the Download statusbar page from your link, but it also said it's not compatible >
So only Adblock Plus and Flagfox work here, the entire rest got disabled because "not compatible".

Yes I saw that as well. That is why I didn't update. The betas are going faster than the add-on devs can follow. will wait for a while. Even though I may do the update on maveric just to test

I've posted about it on the Tab Mix Plus forum and changed back to Firefox 3 for now - which also has been upgraded to 3.6.10 from the Daily repo now. Looks like it runs fine so far, and all my add-ons work.

Thanks for the tip, Fintan. About 6 of my addons were disabled and no update was found...

i love firefox. personally i find firefox more appealing than chromium.
here is my fav add-on which has eliminated my only need to turn to chromium.

most visited sites thumbnail and bookmarks, last visited page. and search bar that has more flexibility than chrome.. and we can give whichever background we like.

I noticed that FF 4.0 now includes Firefox Sync which would sync almost all of your browser stuff. Should I ever need xmarks ever again? Oh, I forgot FSync is NOT available for Chromium, yeah, Chromium, not Chrome, I hate it.
