Need a replacement for expensive software?

As the title says this link gives a nice list of some good open source replacements for expensive software:

    http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/osr...e-Software.htm

Note: I found that you have to hit the refresh button with FF sometimes to get the page to load

      Nice and (somewhat) useful list.

The article say that it's open source programs. I found paint.net on there (no. 25) and as far as I know and according to wikipedia this is propriety freeware, and www.osalt.com another list site of FOSS programs say; Please note that Paint.NET used to be open source, but is now only freeware.

Edit; Fintans topic is more accurate

Anyway, I don't need a Paint replacement since I installed Kolourpaint and especially GIMP.
