Firefox 4 betas & finding things in PPA's?

Does anyone know the PPA for Firefox 4 betas?

Or more generally, does anyone know how to find packages in the launchpad repositories?

    thanks,

    tim

Simply go to the firefox page on Launchpad:
    https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox

(For other apps, simply replace "firefox" with the app name.)

Scroll down to the bottom and click on the link which says "Other versions of firefox".
This gives you the link to the page for the Ubuntu Mozilla Daily Build Team:
    https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozill...y/+archive/ppa

Go down to the dropdown box, select the desired release (here "Maverick") and click on "Filter" to see any packages avaiable for that release:
    https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozill...ilter=maverick

To install packages from this repository, see the info under "Adding this ppa to your system".

Thanks. I assumed it was something relatively simple like that.

There is actually a "ppasearch" program. I haven't used it much, but it does seem to work.

        See here for more info:

Note that I have not been able to get the Maverick version to work as of yet (24 Aug 2010).

It only gives you a list of repositories which contain the searched package, it neither gives you the version of the package in those repositories nor for which release (Karmic, Lucid, Maverick) the packages are. Some repositories even have different versions for different releases.
You also can't look which other packages are in those repositories, to make sure the packages in there don't conflict with other packages installed. When you're just blindly adding a repository and install stuff from it without taking a further look at it, there's a good chance you'll *break stuff*.
As such, this app is not only pretty useless, but even dangerous.

Sounds like solid advice to me.

I noticed that after the daily update a few days ago my bookmarked "www.kubuntu.org" link doesn't open up the kubuntu home but just shows me a "OK" and a white page.

The only thing that works is opening a link from a forum response, and / or makiing:
              http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php

              app tab in FF4

This happens on thoth FF 4 b6pre
and FF3.6.10 (can't make an app tab there
