Unless you have made the appropriate modifications to the root account as explained here, you can expect that running X as root will thoroughly bork the KDE part of your system.
I downloaded linux from another computer. and Install nerolinux run excelent few with cache memory.
for all when you get install linux You must to make 3 partitions
I used:
1% for swap memory
5% for ROOT" /" in my case i used 4G because I've got a partition of 12G and 1G for Swap
rest for /home.
And when you reinstall Linux don't make format in /home and save your data.
