    Re: No space left on device and many problems more.

    Let's get some space first - do a sudo apt-get remove followed by a sudo apt-get autoremove to flush your package cache. Looks like you were busy downloading a bit. What is your df -h now?

    BTW, how did you partition your hard drive? Or better, how big is /?

      Look at the prompts -- he has no need of sudo.

          thanks for the first solution.

          I'm using these 2 codes to clean temp and trashes I found them in some forums.

          open terminal and type.
          sudo nano /urs/sbin/clear_tmp.sh

          copy and paste the following code

          #!/bin/bash

          OLDCONF=$(dpkg -l|grep "^rc"|awk '{print $2}')
          CURKERNEL=$(uname -r|sed 's/-*[a-z]//g'|sed 's/-386//g')

          sudo clear_tmp.sh
          sudo clean_orphans.sh

            Good morning Glad you got some space to work with.

            A quick hint on readability: Could you add code and/or quote tags where appropriate? Just makes it easier to get on overview.

            Now on to X. Could you just give us a quick rundown of your boot process. I take it you boot into the shell? What does startx give you? What does sudo /etc/init.d/kdm start give you? You could always try to reinstall Xorg (you are on karmic, are you not?). If none of the above yield a result check your logs -> /var/log/Xorg.0.log for any error messages you could google.

              yeah I've got many problems with cache space and don't let me install any program.

                    Re: No space left on device and startx problem .

                    I'm understand something. When you working in KDE as root you haven't enough cache I use the last code for every time that I was installing something. This save my live.

                    The solution.

                    Enter as root in KDE (you can enter from recovery mode in Boot or typing su from user).
                    run clear_cache.sh
                    from root type: clear_cache.sh
                    from user type: sudo clear_cache.sh

                    every time that you don't have space left run this program. Try to work in terminal KDE because KDE spends so much cache.

                    I installed the following packages (I searched into KPackageKit application in KDE root and the return in terminal doing click on logout):

                    xserver-xorg-video-all (video)
                    xserver-xorg-input-all (mouse, keyboard, and others)

                    sudo aptitude reinstall xorg
                    sudo aptitude reinstall xserver-xorg
                    sudo aptitude reinstall kubuntu-desktop

                    type
                    sudo clear-tmp.sh . for removing obsolete programs
                    sudo clean_orphans.sh for remove orphans dependencies.

                    if you want delete the command History type
                    sudo cat ~/.bash_history > /home/user/Desktop/command_history.txt (optional if you want to save it in Desktop)
                    sudo rm ~/.bash_history Eliminate the command History.

                    These programs are in the beginning of this post.

                          Same problem, same solution. And next time you try again, you will run into the same problem again!

                          / should at least be 5GB. Use a live CD and gparted or similar to adjust your partition size.

                            Yes i think the same.

                            I will reinstall Kubuntu. I've got this partitions.
                            112G for windows and 12 G for linux

                            What partition size you recomended me for swap Root and data into 12G?.

                              But my main problem is not the disk size. is when I try to install linux headers. I got problems with these dependencies. This is the problem that I had before. When this issue was solved linux uninstall this packages and startx works but now i cant unnistall.

                              Iĺl show you.
