    Lucid Web?

Does anyone know what the plan is for Lucid as far as web browser goes?

    -KDE integrated Firefox 3.6?
    or

    -Arora?

    or
    -Rekonq?

    or
    -Konqueror WebkitQt ?

I know there was a lot of ideas floating around for Karmic and was kurious about Lucid.

I guess this hints about what is being thought...

I think that the Konqueror will be the default. The webkit can be enabled if the user needs it.

The Firefox is having the "Mozilla Firefox Browser installer". I haven't heard of the integration after the > Firefox KDE Integration.

The Arora and Rekonq are in the official repositories.

My guess with the Kubuntu 10.04:
The default /1/ will be the Konqueror without the webkit as default /2/.

With the Karmic > Re: Karmic Release Schedule, Plans, KDE 4.3:
          ...
Switch to Arora as default browser on the desktop CD +1/-1?
          ...
          4 to 1 (against)
          ...

This is Linux, there are lot of options and you could use whatever works with you. The developers are setting some applications as default applications but you don't have to use them.

/1/ An application will be a default:
          1) There is room to put it to the CD.
          2) There is a maintainer/developer who is willing to maintain the application, the Kubuntu is a do-acracy.
          3) It wins the Kubuntu members/developers vote.

          /2/
          a) Package -webkitkde:
This package is for testing only and offers no guarantees of
          stability.
          b) > key quest: webkit:
          ...
Of course, just because it exists is no reason to jump on the QtWebKit bandwagon. If we are going to use QtWebKit (or not), we need have reasons for doing so (or not doing so). We already have KHTML and it works rather well and is still under development, after all. Is there any compelling reason to use KDE WebKit in our applications instead of KHTML?

Thank you for the response... I find this all very interesting.

Linux being so modular and free to do what you want is great.

I also think that it is great that KDE is trying to provide a congealed experience with all their really well made aps and environment. It really addresses the needs of users(like myself). The only part that is not addressed is a KDE browser that lets you experience all the web... which Konq/KHTML does not allow(ie gmail).

I look forward to see what they choose to do and one day having a seamless kde environment/experience.
