[SOLVED] Script to Lock Screen and Suspend to RAM

You may ask why? Well, I love the Lancelot menu, but unlike the KDE Launch menu, when you click on Suspend to RAM, it does not lock the screen before doing so. So I ask, is there a script that will do just that, or are there helper scripts already available that these buttons in the launcher menus use? Thanks for any help!

    Maybe with these...

    > Topic: adding lock computer to favorites

    > Topic: How to suspend to RAM in terminal? (with the Jaunty)

With the Karmic it seems to be:
    Code:
    qdbus org.freedesktop.PowerManagement /modules/powerdevil suspend 2
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

That was it! Thanks! Worked a charm. Now Lancelot is totally usable.

Do explain what you did/had to do. I'm using Lancelot as well, on my laptop.

Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

I took the command that Rog gave and added a personal entry in the menu(named it mySuspend) by editing the menu and adding a new item. I placed mine under Utilities and then marked it as a favorite. I also picked the Action Icon for Suspend for its Icon. Don't know if you need further details. Let me know. I'm on an 800x600 Xubuntu machine right now and it is hard to work at this resolution. One reason I needed that snippet of info, I didn't want to shut down my main machine unlocked while I worked on this one.

For the PC you did this on, are you running KDE 4.3.2 or 4.4?

4.3.4 and I also still have my Start Button defined for it. Looks great!

So you activated the backports repository. Have you experienced any issues with KDE 4.4?

4.3.4? No. All smooth here. On the laptop it actually fixed a great deal. I'm happy.... As Droopy would say.

Cool! Upgraded to KDE 4.3.4 tonight and then followed Moonrise's lead and added a new suspend to RAM item. Just tested it. Works like a champ!
