Ubuntu features not available in Kubuntu

I wonder if there's a list of features that are available in Ubuntu and not available in Kubuntu.

One thing that I can think of (and correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think there's a nice "Guest login" as in Ubuntu.

How about Ubuntu One? I have never tried it, is it available in Kubuntu, is it well integrated?

Can we make a list of such things that are missing from Kubuntu and submit them as bug reports (or at least paper cuts) to Ubuntu?

    Hi Adrian,
I guess you're referring to the "out of the box" configuration. That is just an example setup to get you started. It is assumed that the user will change a lot, perhaps even most, of it. Part of the appeal of any Linux distro is that you can set it up to your liking.

As far as "Guest login" is concerned, what's wrong with just setting up an account called "Guest"? It can be done any time, but I usually do exactly that when I set up the accounts at install time. You can name an account anything you want and give it any privileges you see fit.

I haven't found any Gnome programs that don't work in Kubuntu, but maybe someone knows better than I. Heck, you can even install the ubuntu-desktop package and turn Kubuntu into Ubuntu for all intents and purposes.

As for UbuntuOne, I don't know anything about it, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that it doesn't work on Kubuntu. Whatever, I don't miss it.

The Software center does not work on kubuntu. I tried it and it bugged up the package manager. it worked and crashed once i installed the right icon theme. -.- tbh it's even slow on Ubuntu <.< KpackadgeKit works for me rly well on Karmic dough.

Ubuntu one should work and the rest of the stuff works 2. U just need to install them on the system.

There's nothing wrong but I like the guest account feature in Ubuntu. What it does it creates a temporary pristine account and then it resets when you log out.

Another thing that doesn't work here is notifications for new packages, that used to work in jaunty, I have to installs, one clean and one upgraded from Alpha, I don't see any notification when I have programs to upgrade...

OK, now I see your point. That does seem like a nice feature. It would be especially good for a computer used by lots of different people. It actually doesn't sound like there's much to it and would likely be easy to do with a little script.

I see a line at the bottom of my Adept Manager which, right now, says "7 upgradable". When I click on "Preview Changes" it tells me what they are. There's probably other ways of getting notification that I don't know of.

Yeah, but for that you need to start Adept right? That's not what the notification is about, it supposed to tell you if there are updates without starting Adept or other programs...

Yes, I hadn't thought of that. Of course you could just not close it. I've currently got 49 windows open on a stack of desktops because I never close stuff unless I need to reboot - which is not very often. My box is really old so I know others won't have a resource problem doing it that way. Of course everyone has their own personal ways of using a computer. My desktop has absolutely nothing on it - no toolbar, no notification, no nothing.

I guess in the end there's going to be differences between every distro or version. I personally have no expectations.
