php on apache

I have enabled Apache in the add/remove programs but I also want to enable php. If I search for php in the add/remove programs I get a huge list and I have no idea which one to choose.
Could someone point me in the right direction?

Neil,

Generally you'll want simply to install the package 'php5'. This will automatically include any other packages that are necessary. The packages with short names (php5, php4 etc) are the main ones for installing a version of PHP. (Obiously php5 is PHP version 5, php4 is version 4 and so on!)

Of course the best way (if you want a real server) is to get jaunty server and install from there.
Quick and easy.

You can then install a desktop if needed (sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop)

Ditto on installing Ubuntu server. It gives you a choice of several server types (including none) during the install which is really fast because of the size. I'm actually starting to be a fan of the server edition even if you want to add KDE.
