    NetRadio Station in Kubuntu

I'm working to set up a new netradio in argentina. I'm responsible of choosing the proper hardware and software for setting up an internet radio station. At the moment, i need to choose a fully kubuntu 8.04 compatible motherboard, having it audio input / output, network and basic video, and also i need any software capable of scheduling, mixing music and take audio imput, in order to send it to the internet.

If someone can recommend me a Core2Duo motherboard, would be very nice, because temp issues.

    Regards, Lucas Murad, Argentina.

I'm not up to date on the motherboards but I do keep a bit of an eye on Linux based playout software.
I've tried Campcaster and it looks like one of the best. Unfortunately, they have slowed development and is currently stuck at (K)Ubuntu 8.04 compatibility. They've got some great features though, like a web interface for remote administration. http://www.campware.org/en/camp/campcaster_news/

The one that keeps comming up is Rivendell which will apparently run on Debian based systems. http://www.rivendellaudio.org/index.shtml It is also actively developed and has been for quite a while. I suspect that there are other good Linux solutions out there, but probably for higher prices than free.

Your post just caused me to go searching again and this just came up from Radio Warwick: http://www.broadcastsoftware.org/dps.htm I keep finding what looks like slow or stalled developments like that. The Linux "market" is perhaps not yet big enough to really support such a specialty product for free. Anyway, Rivendell is apparently up to date and professional - it might be the best choice. Good luck!

There must be people around here with some information for you. Perhaps repost with a more direct title under "Kubuntu 8.04 - Hardware".

Here is a great site to check out hardware for *buntu compatibility before you buy it:

I've had good luck with Intel and Asus motherboards. Look up the Asus P5B and I think you'll find it gets a good rating. But there are lots of choices there.
