hi to every Linux men.
i've got a DELL laptop, amd64_x2, ATI graphic card.
i use kubuntu 9.04. (kde4 installed on ubuntu 9.04)
every thing was OK till i decided to install my graphic card driver.
i followed steps to download and install the driver directly from ati.com.
but after installation and reboot, after OS selection i just saw a blank screen with some lines of color on it (just like when the graphic card has a problem).
then i did almost everything to bring things back to previous state.
i did:
trying to install xorg-driver-fglrx
trying to purge xorg-driver-fglrx
trying to use envy to remove ati driver, install it or clear all.
trying to diretly edit xorg.conf and bring it back to default state.
none of theme helped.
now after OS selection it whants me to login in Command mode.
if i do nothing after a while it goes again in blank screen.
if i login in Command mode and then i press ALT-F7 it again goes in blank screen.
now here is my questions from the experts.
i don't want to get involved in re-installation progress.
is there any way i could bring the graphic state to the default?
or
is there any way that installation CD just make settings instead of fully format the partiotion and copy own file?
or
is there any way like Recover Ubuntu?
