WIFI configuration: How to get connected when driver is yet installed?

    Dear,

I want to be connected with my wifi(netgear 511v2 card pci). My labtop uses Kubuntu 8.10. I have installed ndiswrapper and corresponding win driver. The driver works (I can see the driver through terminal):
When I scan my area, I see my wifi name(from my internet box) but I am not connected:
    root@fredericgm-laptop:~# sudo iwlist wlan0 scan

Most "interesting situation", I installed Knetworkmanager(apt-get) but when I launch it, no response. I mean the gui does not open.
BUT I have only the green light fashing(I am not connected)
Please, I want someone help me. I already come so far, from all stuff like ndiswrapper+windows driver installation..... Damn, it's not easy for a new user as me.
    Thank you.

Install "wicd" which will remove knetwork manager but it works very well for me with a Broadcom wifi adapter.
