Can't get wicd to recognize wifi anymore

I was able to connect to the internet (wirelessly) with wicd and installing a broadcom driver.
However, I then started messing around with ad-hoc, I think I may have disabled wicd's ability to recognize networks.

If I type into a terminal 'iwconfig', it shows my wireless card is connected to "network-name", but I'm not able to browse the internet or anything else that requires an internet connection. When I go to the wicd interface, no networks show up, even when I go to 'hidden networks' and manually type in the network I want to connect to.

If I did disable wicd's ability to recognize networks, how do I remedy that? Any help would be appreciated.
