From (as they say) TFA:
Originally posted by Linus TorvaldsI got the update through Fedora, and there was a mismatch from KDE 3 to KDE 4.0. The desktop was not as functional, and it was just a bad experience for me. I'll revisit it when I reinstall the next machine, which tends to be every six to eight months.

Re: Linus hates KDE 4, too.
He didn't say he hates KDE4, just that it wasn't working for him.
And I assume we all have to agree on that one.
It hasn't been a nice transition from KDE3.5 to 4 but those like me who use the 4.2 beta's know it's getting better in great leaps.
As a matter of fact, I am very impressed with the ideas that are now coming to the surface, what it next needs is polish too.
So let's hope Linus' experience will be better with the next release (of Fedora) because then it'll be acceptable to more if not most of us.

Re: Linus hates KDE 4, too.
Well I must say I also mad the switch for Kubuntu to Ubuntu about a month ago. I love Kubuntu, but got tired of all the messing around I was doing. I will have a go at the next release of Kubuntu later this year, but for now I am using Ubuntu.
I know I was not a fan from the first release of 8.10 but kept giving it a go. I updated to the 4.2 beta and was happy for a little while then thing just got harder. This in no way is a bash, but a preference. I wanted to spend more time on my other hobbies and lest time keeping Kubuntu running.
So I can see why he switched, if it was for the bug, and not the look and feel. I do hope it keeps getting better, as I do like it more than Ubunut. For now every thing I want to do it done if far less time under Ubuntu than it was under Kubuntu.

Re: Linus hates KDE 4, too.
To point out the obvious (again), while KDE is being perfected, 8.04 is still free and rock solid. That's what I use, although I had no problems with 8.10 (until I accidentally deleted it--a long stupid story--and haven't yet re-installed it).
