installing kubuntu 6 on an old IMac

I've been trying to install kubuntu on my imac that's all in one, monitor and HDD and rom, It boots to the disk and lets me type in live, it spins up the disk and acts like it is starting to load the install, it goes to a white screen, then it says that

ramdisk: ran out of compressed data

    invalid compressed format (err=1)

kernal panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)

Am I just wasting my time?

Well, can you give more info? What Imac do you have? What is Kubuntu 6? What version exactly are you installing?

There is a wiki here, does it help?

in order, I don't know the type I just know that it's only the monitor, keyboard and mouse, pre-G3. I just know that the kubuntu is version 6.06.1 which I used to install and run on my mac g3. that's all the info I have.

The two things that come to mind are: 1st. Is it power PC or intel? That you will need to know, and use the proper installation CD. The other one is: unless you have a reason to use such an old release, I would go for a recent one, maybe 8.10

        Hope this helps!

          I'll try a newer version.
