Which is the best office suite

So which is the best office suite?
And on the similar note I really need outline view but OOo3 dosen't have it.
Do you know of any other (than MS Office) office suite that has similar option.
And I need a simple way of making index (again something like MS Office).
I need it for my "diploma" (thesis ?) that I'll be doing next year (summer 2009)
It would really help to know weter should I by MS Office 2007 or does some free software has that option.
And how good is wine support for MS Office?

PS: I'm thinking to post demand for this feature to OOo but I don't find where to post (bug tracker probably but I don't find it).
    Thanks for your help

    You been reading Microsoft FUD

And on the similar note I really need outline view but OOo3 dosen't have it.
    Press F5

Perhaps reading ooo help on indexing will help.

If I were you I'd get my head round ooo - it is far superior in anything to do with layout (a friend just wrote her PhD on it with no probs, another used MSWord and nearly suffered three nervous breakdowns). Having said that, latex ain't bad, no frills, superb formating.

WOW thanks, I was so used to MS Office (even though I'm using OOo for 4 years now). I see the "navigator" (I translated that from Slovene so it might be called something else) and it has some real options I don't think I could find equivalent for them on MS....
You're right in all my 4 years of using OOo I never ever took time to read help or manual...
So I'll take all the blame on thinking that OOo isn't as good as MS...
Thanks again!! You saved me a lot of money I was really intending to buy MS Office 2007 student teacher edition

        Your welcome

There is, of course, KOffice also, but OOo is solid.

I agree, the F5 key is quite simply a fantastic utility. However, F11 is at least as important. Here you configure your styles which you are going to use in your diploma! Once that is set up, you won't ever need to play with formats again.

For example, once you've written everything and used the correct style (you can, of course, set up your own) for footnotes, quotes, normal text, different headings and what-have-you you can simply change any one of these styles and it is applied to the document (if I am not making myself clear it is because I'm off the pub in a second ).

The indexing is brilliant, especially the alphabetical indexing! Takes some time to work out, but worth it!

There is tons more good stuff waiting for you to discover (also check out bookmarks)! For more detailed questions you may wish to consult a special OOO forum.
