Boot up error messages

Using Feisty on a system where I have a drive hdb allocated to a Windows system, I get a number of errors which are all related to two references:
1. error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 167 - what is a device 167??
2. unable to access hdb LBA sec 39167615;sector 39102336 - I have checked the disk and all reports Ok - where do I look to fix thsi??
Any help would be appreciated

Searching Kubuntu forums with the "uninitialized input device".
