OK - -Little history. the hsfmodem drivers via ubuntu/Dell worked in 7.10x86_64, but we did have a sound issue - - but I could live with that.
Thought I would be smart and go up to 8.04 and do it all again. Got my CD, and away we go - - -
Well guess what - - It won't work, and it appears to be a problem for a lot of folks.
What makes it worse - - If I don't have a modem, I have no internet. Don't say broadband - - it's not available.
Looks like I'm heading back down to 7.10 until I see something positive regarding models.
May go looking at Mandriva too (no it's not a slam, I have that running on a Dell Workstation with zeon processors and 64 bit Spring 2007)
