    Webdesign "suite" software

I need to know what is Linux alternative to: Fireworks? (Gimp??), is kompoze good for making simple
    HTML sites...
Is there anything like Adobe CS3 that you would have related programs where you could develop an
    normal kind of website??
Or do you have to install different kind of programs and hope that they'll work with one another...

    In a word: yes.

There is no real replacement for the photoshop c3, flash c3, or dreamweaver c3, etc "suite".

One of the best web designers for linux is:
    http://www.nvu.com/

Krita is a good replacement for fireworks/photoshop.

Gimp is alright but not 4-color and has a steep learning curve. Plus exorting to the web can be a hassel.

If you are designing in flash (not just animations but applications and whole websites)
you will have to go down the wine (not recommendable) or vmware path (my suggestion).
I have a VM xp that runs all of my adobe stuff very stably and fast.

As for serious web application design you might want to check out flex:

I hope this points you in the right direction

      Re: Webdesign "suite" software

Thanks I hope this will help, I don't really need the best software, I would need just to edit
banners and other animated gif stuff. I was asking about Fireworks because I used MX version on XP
and I got used of it. But as for webdesign goes I'm not that far that I would create whole pages in flash
(at least that they would look nice).
Another problem is that I VMware doesn't support my computer (that what is said when I try to instal WMplayer) and I got same problems with KVM. (see this topic: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3093502.0) So there are little choices for me.

Okay well NVU should do you fine for page design.

As for animations there are a few animations apps. that can export to flash format such as flash for linux:
        http://sourceforge.net/project/scree...group_id=87799

As for gif animations i can't remember. Haven't done that for a while.

Another problem is that I VMware doesn't support my computer

        could you be more specific?

Nevermind I can't even find WMplayer among add/remove programs, but I found Virtual box hope it will
          work

Virtual Box is okay but it isn't as stable (imho) as vmware player.

NVU has some serious bugs, and is effectively dead as a development. Kompozer is a spin-off from NVU, which has the aim of fixing the bugs, and it's achieved that pretty well. So Kompozer is (in my opinion) the one to go for.
