setup 7.10 on friends computer. Went to play fresh master copy of newly cut CD from his band. Couldn't find amarok Icon. Tried running amarok from run command and konsole, no luck. Uninstalled amarok using Adept Manager, then reinstalled. Still doesn't work. New problem, K3b no longer sees any CD music files, nor does storage media. It does see data files correctly from cdwriter. Took his CD to my computer, also 7.10 and it reads it perfectly. What has happened ? While taking out Amarok did it also take out other needed libraries for other programs? Want to get ability to see music files again in cdwriter, K3B working again. Amarok etc.

Hard to say, with that information. Probably the issue has to do with his hardware, which is different from yours. Specifically, his sound system. Here's where you start to deal with that:
