Re: no apply type button for adept manager

Ensure that Adept Manager is closed. To be ultra sure, perform a normal shutdown and reboot. When at the Desktop, open a console and type, one at a time:
    Code:
    sudo dpkg --configure -a
    sudo apt-get autoclean
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Hi, I put in the 1st line of code and hit enter and was asked for password and entered password and got this next line:
dpkg: status database area is locked by another process
Also when I booted up tonight, there was 1 update and the adept could not open that either. That adept seems to be really messed up.

Hi Snowhog, Finally ran the code you requested. Seemed to go O. K. Everything seemed to go fine except for the next to last line:
            Reading state information... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 8 not upgraded.
            michael@michael-desktop:~$
Does that look O. K. to you?
Also when I try to install boinc or firefox it says Installed and No Change.
Looking down the list I see Installed and no change in a few other places.
            What do you think?
            Thanks, M
