Can't get kubuntu 7.10 to run on my hp pavilion 7955

I am able to get my hp pavilion 7955 to boot off the live cd just fine and I can get it to install fine as well but when I try to boot from the hard drive it just goes to a black screen with a blinking _
if anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it

I did what it said and it didn't work I couldn't get to the command screen.
