Which version of Kubuntu may i install (Not for RUN LIVE CD)

Xubuntu:

Xubuntu is a complete GNU/Linux based operating system with an Ubuntu base. It is lighter on system requirements and tends to be more efficient than Ubuntu with GNOME or KDE, since it uses the Xfce Desktop environment, which makes it ideal for old or low-end machines, thin-client networks, or for those who would like to get more performance out of their hardware.

Download the .iso file and burn to CD to create the bootable LiveCD.

My computer : i386

i see:
xubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso and
xubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386.iso

Differenty betwen them
Should I download alternate-i386.iso or desktop-i386.iso

I have kubuntu running smoothly on several lower end machines, including a celeron 1.2, 256 ram laptop, so your specs should be enough for kubuntu as well if xubuntu doesn't work for you. I'd recommend the alternate installer because of the amount of ram have.

Feel free to try xubuntu as well, though.
