Search the apt cache using Konqueror

Discovered a handy function in Konqueror that you get when you type apt:/ in the URL line. This functionality is made available if you have the kio-apt package installed.

    kio-apt

    an apt-cache ioslave for KDE
kio-apt is an ioslave which provides the apt:/ protocol. It integrates apt-cache functionalities into Konqueror, making browsing the packages easier. It provides:
    - apt-cache search: apt:/search?expression
    - apt-cache show: apt:/show?package . The show? target
    prints the policy too.
    - apt-cache policy: apt:/policy?package

    It's pretty cool!

This ability is also available (as separate search functions) within the embedded Google search engine.

This is accomplished by clicking on the down-arrow on the Google icon, clicking on Select Search Engines... and clicking on the APT - Filelist, APT - Find File, and APT - Search Package

      See snapshots below.
