two users share one computer

Hey all,
I am looking for a way to let two users use one computer at the same time.
The setup i want to get is like this: one main kubuntu computer with two user accounts (jim and mike).
One user (mike) is working on that system and the second (jim) is working on the kubuntu laptop, but logged in on the main system using some desktopsharing program.
I tried krdc (remote Desktop Connection) to get this but i don't think it will work like i want to.
Anay ideas?
