MAJOR FLAW DISCOVERED IN 7.04

Don't know where to put this or report it, but here goes. I've been using Kubuntu for a while now and have upgraded as the newer versions came along. Since I upgraded to 7.04, I noticed my computer was acting strangely. I have this on an older desktop using grub to dual boot between XP Home and Kubuntu. Finally today my computer crashed hard. My computer btw is a P3-550 using an Intel SE440BX-2 mobo. As I could not get out of the bsod in Windows, I had to reload everything. I opened the case to clean out interior, etc. I noticed computer was acting funny again after loading Windows and Kubuntu back on it. WTF?? I noticed processor fan is not turning (dead fan, I thought). I booted from cold boot, the fan turned on until it started loading 7.04, then it shut off and stayed off. I wiped off 7.04 and reloaded it again. At the point of live disk, fan running, click install, fan stopped. I wiped hdd again and loaded 6.06. No troubles occurring, normal operation. Just hope I haven't wrecked my processor too much. This is my play around computer, but still. Any thoughts? Hopefully this will get to the right people.

I would flash the system BIOS (even if the system has already the latest one), then make the process all over again...
