KDE4 in Kubuntu?

I know Kubuntu won't have KDE4 until at least 8.10 ...

But I was wondering whether it would be possible for the 99% of us who want it to install it from the repositories when it becomes available or will we have to install it ourselves?

And if we can install it from repositories would it replace KDE3.5 or just be an extra session option at login?

KDE 4 will certainly be available through Kubuntu repositories (most likely kubuntu.org), just like any other KDE update.

Whether it will overwrite KDE 3.x or exist side by side, I think there will still be discussions about that. Theoretically, KDE 4 is supposed to use the same directories and resources that KDE 3.5 is currently using, which means it would replace KDE 3.5.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Migrating from KDE 3 to KDE 4 is going to be a first for Kubuntu, so there might be some bumps along the way.
