torrents problem

hi, i've god big trouble with torrents. easily it doesn't work. i tried many clients and anyone works. i've also tried utorrent started in wine and the same problem. it says status is OK but it doesn't download anything... can anyone help me please

Which version of Kubuntu ?

Did you try ktorrent (version ?)

Any error messages ?

Maybe this:
things install as root

Now, KTorrent will only run with root privileges (kdesu ktorrent).

and

RESOLVED!!! ktorrent just opened normally from the menu.

run ktorrent with root privileges didn't help... still stalled

can't it be in some system settings? port blocked eventually how can i unblock them

konqueror works fine, however i don't use it to browse the web... for that i have firefox, but yes, it can connect to internet...
i'm going to try firestarter

no, the torrents aren't dead, i'm sure about that because i looked at the tracker and for one torrent there was about 50 seeders

today i've tried to run utorrent again (in wine, not in windows) and i successfully donwloaded one torrent... but it didn't upload anythink....
i don't have much time to play with it know, but ill try something later...

actually back when i first started w/ ubuntu i tried a torrent in BitTorrent (as dat was packaged w/ it) and it never went. i assumed dead torrent...

Are you behind a router or firewall? Usually you need to forward ports in your router or firewall to allow the torrent software to work. Depending on the torrent software, you can sometimes decide which port you want to use and then forward that port in your router to that particular desktop or laptop.
