It is not hard to find NUMEROUS posts, both within the Kubuntu and Ubuntu Forums, as well as outside these communities, concerning the problems getting the Intel High Definition Audio devices working within Linux. What I'm amazed by, is that this sound codec, is, according to Intel, the sound architecture that is being used in MANY PCs produced today. And it seems also, from reading, that the HDA archictecture has been here for a while. Why then, does there seem to be so little progress within Linux to have functioning support for a sound scheme that is being shipped with most PCs today?
Am I wrong? I have a great laptop, but no sound, and I'm not the only one who's complaining about that.
