    deleting files

I was wondering if its possible to make kubuntu just delete files instead of sending files to the trash can and then having to delete them. Thanks.

I know there's a setting for that in Konqueror somewhere.

    For command line, you type:
    Code:
    rm filename
but I don't know how to do it for directories...

you have to use the recursive switch for directories. rm -r directory

In windows you can press shift to delete permanantly without moving it to recycle bin. I'm not in kubuntu, can you test it in kubuntu ?
            cheers!

yes, holding shift "skips the middle man" if you will, it asks for a confirmation (which can be turned off) and permanently deletes the file.
