Given that everyone who will reply to this here is using it the answer is easy: Kubuntu
Seriously though I've never tried using freebsd and am therefore not in a position to actually compare them. What I will say however is that I enjoy using kubuntu and would happily recommend it to anyone.

Same here. One day I would like to try one of the BSDs. Any recommendations.

FreeBSD is not for newbees trying to learn Linux, you have to know lot about Unix.
FreeBSD you need to know a lot more.
FreeBSD you can build the system how you want it, but you best know how.
FreeBSD you can use both linux and BSD type files.

Some people love BSD it gives the freedom to do what they want.
          Remember it is Unix.

I will stay with Kubuntu is is GREAT for all my needs, now and in the future,
as it will be be a lot of others.

BSDs are not linux distros. They are complete different OS.

The fact that they can look the same (same KDE or Gnome) don't mean that they have the same internals.
