Open GL stuff... and Google Earth....

I am running Kubuntu 6.10 with kernel 2.6.17-11 and had all the upgrades current via the adept installer. I had previously had a piece of software called "Google Earth" that ran fine under Slakware; however, it seems to crash Kubuntu. I wonder if anyone else has this problem or similar problems? I have an ATI Radeon 9550 graphics card, and installed the graphics drivers from adept. If I lsmod, I get:

    radeon 118816 2
    agpgart 34888 2 drm,intel_agp

    If I lspci, I get:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AS [Radeon 9550]
01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 ?? [Radeon 9550] (Secondary)

I am kind of at a loss here, as I am new to this kubuntu thing, and haven't really touched Linux a lot in a long time (except for recently installing Slakware, and then screwing it all up when I compiled a new KDE and wiping out Slakware to install Kubuntu), so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and help. =)

    A bit more....

I ran the adept-updater today, as more updates were available, but that didn't seem to help, though it occurred to me to run with ltrace, so I added ltrace in their startup script on the binary, and got a bunch of stuff that means nothing to me. The following is the last line. I have the file and can e-mail if that will help anyone.... Again, any help is appreciated. =) Thanks again.

I am a bit clueless about most of the technicalities you are referring to, but I have:
Kubuntu 6.10 Linux kernel 2.6.17-10- generic AMD64X2 4200+ processor and Nvidia 7900 GT or something gfx card

And I absolutely love google earth, I almost always have an instance running, and it almost never crashes.

Just to testify that your problems are most likely related to something you have on your machine, how helpful that is :P
