Got this running, 2nd Life , on an Nvidia GeForce4000 by installing the driver at http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-9631.html
It has to be a legacy driver 1.096xxxxxx
The install wizard takes you easily through, once you have exited X windows environment to the command line. You can't use a terminal, you have to log all out of KDE.
It even fetches and compiles the right kernel for you and makes a xorg.conf backup.
My character is Ziphy Zabelin.
2nd Life is a hybrid of a game and a real life simulation. You can do real life things in it moving about as a character. There is nothing like it, so it's kinf of hard to explain, but go explore. There's free account to get,
See you there.
