    how to make a temporary swap file

    i have a old ibm thinkpad 770z with 128mb of ram. im trying to install kubuntu 6.10 alternate cd. and every time i go to load it it goes into low memory mode and eventualy crashes. inow i heard i can create a temporary swap file but i dont know how can any 1one tell me how. iv been working on trying to install this for 2 days any help would be greatfull.

    Hi,

    For me it's going to low memory mode because of so low memory amout, even with a big swap, it will be quite slow and unusable. Why don't you try xubuntu ?
    BTW, I don't see how creating a temporary swap will help to install not in low mem mode, can you explain more please ?
