I work best from the printed page.Is there a kubuntu book which is clear,concise and relatively easy to read/understand, that i can buy?
also,how do i know what version of kubuntu i have? thank you.

There's a copy of those guides in the KDE Help Center for offline reading. (K Menu -> Help -> Kubuntu Documentation).
