Was just reading on slashdot that no proprietary video drivers will be used in Feisty. I was just wondering what this means in a practical sense, will everyone need to download and wrap their own drivers when they install Feisty (as I understand it open drivers for video cards are still quite rare). Or am I misunderstanding what this means?

Re: Video drivers in Feisty?
Hi,
In fact, it's not the case, you can read the post about this from Mark Shuttleworth here :
http://www.markshuttleworth.com/archives/95
Here an extract :
I’m afraid you’ve misread the announcement that proprietary video drivers will not be switched on by default in Feisty. ... we re-affirmed the Ubuntu policy of including proprietary drivers were these are required to enable essential hardware functionality.
So I guess they will still be available and at least you can still use the official proprietary drivers from nvidia as I'm doing on one of my computer...
Cheers
