    Suggest a video editor

    I am looking for a video editor similar to Vegas Video.
    On my windows system I used Vegas to edit my storyboards for animation. So I just wanted to know if anyone had a suggestion for one I could use in Kubuntu.

    I need it to be able to import bitmaps, the ability to pan and zoom key framed in the time line, plus import audio. And adjusting the frame rate to 12fps would be a plus.

    Warning: I have never tried video editing in linux.

    However, this page seems to show cinelerra as having comparable features to sony vegas.

      You might be interested in one of the following, it's a list of the video packages that are being considered for use in ubuntu studio;

      Decription:

      * avidemux - A small editing software for avi. (especially DivX) (Dont know about this) -C.Kontros
      * cinelerra - (not in the repos. getting packaged)
      * cinepaint - A painting and image retouching program designed to work best with 35mm film and other high resolution high dynamic range images.
      * ffmpeg - Multimedia player, server and encoder
      * ffmpeg2theora - Theora video encoder using ffmpeg
      * jahshaka - (not in the repos and deferred until next upstream release.)
      * kino - A non-linear editor for Digital Video data
      * stopmotion - A program for creating stop motion animation.

      I have no idea what vega is like so I shan't make a specific recommendation (most of them aren't editors, but they may be useful anyway).

        for the most part Jahshaka seems to be what I'm looking for, plus it'll run on my windows system as well.
        I'm trying it out now. But, hopefully they'll update the tutorials soon with the release of Ubuntu Studio.

        Thanks.
