    [DESKTOP] Sporadic system hangs

Running kernel 5.4.0-56-generic with kde plasma version 5.20.4.

For the last several weeks, my Neon system has been hanging (freezing) sporadically. Starts with the image freezing, but the sound (if I'm watching a video) goes on for maybe 10-15 seconds. I"ve tried looking in syslog and all I can find is the following, for 4 hangs. The dates are shown in the log.

Does this say anything to anybody? I apologize, as it's not much to go on.

The above is the only thing that may be relevant, everything else looks to be unrelated.

Which log are you looking at? There may be some lines above the bit above that might be relevant.

it probably a bug in the open source Nouveau driver, what GPU do you have?
I see lots of old beg reports of freezes with this but nothing that even begins to help.

Here's more from the last one. I go back to just after some kwallet stuff.

You mention the display driver. Would I be better off if I installed the NVidia driver -- if there still is one? There used to be a utility for managing that, but I can't find it any more under Neon.

My graphics card is an Nvidia GK 107 (GeForce GT 740).

Here is a longer excerpt from syslog.

The kern.log has stuff from aparmor, which I've never understood the use of.

Neon doers not come with the K(U)buntu driver manager, but it can be added with the package software-properties-qt, and accessed via Discoverer's settings, in the 'software sources' button, it does not add a tab in System Settings.

I *think* your card is still supported by the nvidia drivers.
