    Grub file

    Hi,
I use Kde non with UEFI and Nvidia 440 driver. Every time after installation missing file grub in /etc/default After boot live Neon is in /etc/default/grub file ok. In Kubuntu 20.04 UEFI with Nvidia is grub file ok. Please why missing this file in Kde neon?
Ps without this file grub-update permanently disable splash quiet grub...

    Can't say. Very odd.
Both my Neon systems have /etc/default/grub

Are you using some tool to customize grub, or just editing the text file?

KDEneon is a very minimal installation and many things that are installed by Kubuntu are not installed by KDEneon. However, I suspect the exclusion of this particular file is an oversight.

Thankfully, the solution is easy; simply create the file yourself.

You should probably state WHICH version of KDEneon you're using. If you're using the daily build of the new 20.04 based system, it's still in development mode AFAIK. Not ready for daily use.

No using customize grub. Do you use also UEFI?

You could copy the /etc/default/grub file from the live USB or from K20.04 to neon.
You have to use sudo to do that, but it's easy enough.

              Yes both are uefi.

I would suspect that Grub Customizer is the issue here.

The file is not critical for grub to function. It's possible your installer left it out if everything s at default.

There is a backup version of that file at /usr/share/grub/default/

Just copy it to /etc/default and change it as required.

Thanks yes this file is not critical, but without this file update-grub disable (some update) quiet splash. Also thanks for this hints.
