    KDE neon Rebased on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

    https://dot.kde.org/2018/09/26/kde-n...-bionic-beaver
    The KDE neon team is proud to announce the rebase of our packages onto Ubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver". We encourage all users to upgrade now. The installable ISOs and Docker images have also been updated to run on 18.04.

    And can someone please look at https://community.kde.org/Neon/Docker and say if an "average" user with no experience with containers can follow the instructions in there?

      “Average user with no container experience”?
      Probably not.
      If they are using Btrfs they could snapshot their system and then give it a try. If things don’t work out, or their curiosity is satisfied, they can rollback in 3 minutes.

        No, wine is not installable on Neon 18.04.

        Just wanted to get that one out on the way...

          Re. i386,
          Code:
          $ sudo dpkg --remove-architecture i386

            IMO, the first paragraph sort of rules the "average" users out of scope:
            Do you want to test KDE applications from master without installing KDE neon Dev Unstable edition. Maybe you have Dev Unstable edition installed but want to develop on your stable branch. Maybe you like your larswm setup but wonder if Plasma is the desktop for you and are looking for an easy way to test it out. KDE neon Docker images are the solution to quickly give you access to use or develop another branch without reinstalling your system or spending hours compiling.
            I'd say the "average users" do none of that. Not saying the instructions could not be improved.

              I would agree with kubicle that people which haven’t heard or used Docker will not go anywhere near this. However, I have very little experience with Docker and with that description I had Neon up and running in 5 minutes! Pretty cool :-)

                Wow! Get it out of the way or ... blow it out of the way!
                What a bomb!

                Any plans to add WINE to the Neon repository anytime soon? Or, is Neon going to depend of Steam and other users of WINE to install their own when the steam deb app is installed?

                  Maybe looking at https://www.digitalocean.com/communi...n-ubuntu-18-04 will get me somewhere.
