PC switches back to built-in GPU

Very often I turn on my (desktop) PC and the Lenovo logo appears and the PC appears to boot but I don't
get a log-in screen. If I pull the HDMI cable and switch it to the built-in HDMI port it works. This is not
ideal because the built in GPU is no good for X-Plane!

If I hit F12 during boot I can go into BIOS settings and switch from IGD (integrated) to PEG (PCI GPU) and
reboot. Sometimes this works but mostly I have to do that three or four times before the setting sticks!

At first I thought it was the RTC battery but it's only the one setting being reset to default!

This never happened before I installed the latest Neon!

Your BIOS doesn't have a setting to disable the internel GPU or at least give the external GPU priority?

It's not like Linux is reaching into your BIOS. Sounds more like the video drivers are competing. There must be a way to disable the built-in GPU in Linux, like blacklist the drivers.

I can set the BIOS to IGD, PEG, or Auto. If I set it to PEG, if I'm lucky, the log-in screen comes up after boot. If I'm unlucky, I have to
go into the BIOS and do it again because it went back to IGD after startup!

The integrated GPU is AMD as is the PCI GPU!

I may download the latest BIOS image (again) and flash it again! Maybe it got borked somehow!

...or maybe an update will fix it...

The latest update is from 2022, which I already flashed a long time ago. I just downloaded the BIOS update ISO again
and will write it to a USB stick to flash it again just to be sure.
