Dolphin in KDE Neon 5.11.5 and tags

    Hello everyone

These days I am experimenting a lot with tags in Dolphin. Tags could be a real productivity tool. Problems: 1/ When I copy or move a file with a tag to another folder the tag is gone; and 2/ I don't know how to copy / sync the tags to another computer. So my question is: does anyone know where these tags are stored in the KDE / Dolphin system? I have been looking around in all kinds of config-files but could not find them. Greetings from Amsterdam :-)

Earlier KDE Forums - Tag files and search tags: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=141100

The KDE is using the extended file attributes to save the tags.

    - Extended file attributes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_file_attributes

but there is a bug with the KDE KIO: Bug 274327 - file copying should preserve extended attributes - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=274327

Extended attributes: the good, the not so good, the bad: https://www.lesbonscomptes.com/pages/extattrs.html
    Archiving and backup

rsync 3.0.9 with option -X or --xattrs will preserve attributes when transferring between Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac OS X.

    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

Thank you so much, for the information, Rog131, I will look into it..
Just tried the archiving and backup with Grsync, adding the --xattrs, and that worked beautifully.
And I have to correct myself: Moving a file to another folder keeps the tags, copying loses the tags.
      Bye now.

Thank you for that, there's so much tech to fall behind on.
