[KDE] Delays connecting to security.ubuntu.com

My updates used to go very quickly, even large updates of a hundred or more packages used to only take 2-3 minutes. Recently, my updates seemingly take forever. I notice long delays connecting to us.archive.ubuntu.com and especially security.ubuntu.com. Any suggestions?

Not seeing that here, but you could try a different mirror.

Try backing up your sources.list and (installing and) running netselect-apt

Actually, I just tested that and didn't like it. You could try this:

sudo netselect -s 20 -t 40 $(wget -qO - mirrors.ubuntu.com/mirrors.txt)

which should get you a list of the fastest mirrors.

Thanks for your reply. However do you have a source for netselect-apt?

Package netselect-apt is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

OR ,,,sometimes this happens to me ,,,,and a re-boot of my router is the key ,,,,,unplug it wait a minute ,,plug it back in wait for it to do all IT'S reconnecting ,,then connect and test.
